Mr. Sullivan has worked with Fortune 500 financial institutions, telecommunications providers, pharmaceutical companies, as well as major regional health plans, U.S. federal agencies, and data commissioners’ offices in Hong Kong and Ontario. He is an expert in the design and implementation of risk management and compliance processes for privacy laws and regulations, as well as BSI7799/ISO17799 standards for information security management systems.

Prior to joining Synomos, Mr. Sullivan worked as an independent consultant, focusing on HIPAA security regulation, and privacy and data protection management in the pharmaceutical industry. He was Vice President for Privacy and Information Policy with Guardent, a provider of security consulting and managed security services, and was a senior manager in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Compliance Risk Management group, where he helped to establish their global Privacy Practice. Prior to joining PwC, Patrick was executive director of the Washington, D.C. based Computer Ethics Institute.  He has over 15 years experience teaching at the university level and holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Kentucky, and degrees from Southern Illinois University and Indiana University.
