–– The Company Was Formerly The Enterprise Privacy Unit Of Zero-Knowledge Systems; Synomos To Exhibit And Speak
At Privacy Futures Symposium ––
MONTREAL AND NEW JERSEY — June 4, 2004 – The Enterprise Privacy Unit of Zero-Knowledge Systems (ZKS), which
has provided privacy services and technologies to leading companies since 1999, has been spun out and renamed Synomos Inc. The
company, which operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of ZKS, provides solutions that enable businesses to achieve cost-effective
regulatory compliance, effectively manage data policies, and assure the value of data assets.
“As a division of Zero-Knowledge Systems, we led the industry by delivering unmatched privacy and compliance solutions
to Fortune 500 companies, financial services organizations and global technology leaders,” said Austin Hill of Synomos.
“Today’s businesses are dealing with more complex compliance and data governance issues than ever before, and this growing
need drove the decision to spin out our successful division into a separate company.”
Austin Hill, a co-founder and executive of Zero-Knowledge Systems, will assume the titles of CEO and President in the new company.
Hammie Hill, also a co-founder and executive of ZKS, is the Chairman of Synomos. Synomos is also pleased to announce the appointment
of Michael Trubatch to the position of Executive Vice President for Sales and Customer Solutions. Mr. Trubatch brings more than
18 years of sales and market-building expertise in the software and technology industry. Prior to joining Synomos, he directed the
worldwide sales operations for Business Layers, a provider of user provisioning solutions that was acquired by Netegrity in 2003.
Before Business Layers he served as Vice President of Sales Development and Strategy for Novell.
“The ZKS Enterprise Unit was ahead of its time in identifying the need for technologies that enable businesses to achieve
policy-based data management and compliance within the IT infrastructure,” said Hammie Hill, Chairman of Synomos.
“By creating Synomos we can better capitalize on this expanding market and build on the success of the division. After over
a half a decade of delivering solutions, our unmatched customer experience and advanced technology are now focused under a new
company, Synomos Inc.”
The Growing Need For Compliance And Data Governance Solutions
Every business is collecting more data, storing it in more databases, and using it for more applications. This data is then
subject to more regulations and laws that heighten risk and increase cost. A recent InformationWeek Research survey of 200
business technology executives found that over 60 per cent of them are restricting employee access to certain data, and over
20 per cent are providing less information to partners and customers due to compliance challenges. As a result, 59 per cent
of them will increase spending on compliance projects this year. A report from AMR Research, which surveyed more than 70
companies regarding compliance spending, found that more than $5.5 billion will be spent on complying with the Sarbanes-Oxley
Act this year alone. The substantial increase in regulatory requirements for businesses has created a need for cost-effective
compliance solutions that enable them to centralize compliance management, manage and analyze data assets, and generate
detailed reports.
The Align Solution for Assured Data Operations
Synomos’ flagship product, Align 3.0, is the latest version of the product previously known as Enterprise Privacy Manager.
